Vidya Sundar is an MFA in painting with an MA in English Literature, practicing and exhibiting artist for past 2 decades.

 

Vidya exhibited in a number of prestigious National and International shows like: Jaipur Art Summit, Kolkata Art Festival, IAFA, Amritsar and 'Art Asia', an International Art Expo conducted in Seoul, South Korea in 2018 to name a few.

 

Vidya had 5 Solo Shows.

She was part of many National and International Art Camps. An exhibition of South Indian artists at Cholamandal Artists' Village, Chennai in 2015 was her first curatorial venture.

 

Vidya got the 'Best Contemporary Art Award' at Indian Contemporary Art Exhibition held at State Art Gallery, Guwahati in 2015. 

 

 

My art is something that I enjoy and experience; something that I doubt and question; and something that challenges me. My subjects are not directly picked up from my surroundings, but they and their stories, as pleasant as a warmly-comforting blanket or as unpleasant as a suffocating ziplock, form my ecosystem. I pick threads from these to weave my magical world, embellished with motifs from the nature. In this magical space, I build nests for my characters while keeping enough space for the viewers to build their own. My love for travel, music, poetry, fables, people, and nature shapes my thought process and finds its reflection in my works. In my world, space and colors define the well-being while time and destiny form the fine lines of connections that hold the magical world together.
